Tempe Center for the Arts
Tempe, Arizona
As Owner’s Representative for the City of Tempe, project management services consisted of design phase leadership of over 65 stakeholders and day-to-day project management as liaison between City representatives and the project team. With the goal of creating an iconic state-of-the-art performing and visual arts center for local performing and arts groups, as well as a venue for public and private events this $68M project successfully transformed a 26-acre landfill into an arts park and 90,000 square foot cultural center including:
- A 600-seat proscenium theatre, 250-seat studio theatre and 3,500 square foot visual arts gallery providing state-of-the art venues for a variety of dance, music, theatre and visual arts opportunities for local and touring groups
- Multi-purpose indoor and outdoor event space, lake view lobby, bar, lounges for public and private gatherings that feature the work of four nationally recognized public artists
- An exceptional acoustical environment under a complex protective roof, mitigating noise from the flight path directly above, a nearby freeway and adjacent train trestle
Throughout the Tempe Center for the Arts project, I could depend on Karen O’Connor to provide a constant and discerning watch over our timeline, details and budget. Having a skilled and attentive project manager on top of the myriad details allowed me to focus on a more global view of the project.
