Karen O'Connor

Karen (McCarthy) O'Connor has been leading successful projects as Owner/Tenant representative since 1998, preceded by nearly two decades of professional practice in interior architecture.

Karen has earned her reputation for excellence through hard work and unwavering dedication to realizing the vision of each client. She is technically and verbally fluent in the role of liaison between owner, architect and contractor. This allows her to direct the entire team toward common goals based on function, quality, schedule and budget.

Career highlights include:

  • Established McCarthy O’Connor, LLC in 2011 as a woman-owned business dedicated to providing exceptional project management services for the built environment
  • Co-founded Pfocus, LLC in 2005 completing high profile projects such as Phoenix Convention Center and Herberger Theater Center renovations in downtown Phoenix, and the rehabilitation of the historic Balboa Theatre in San Diego, CA
  • Recruited by Kitchell CEM in 2001 as Sr. Project Manager/Owner’s Representative for $68M Tempe Center for the Arts project in Tempe, Arizona
  • Joined CB Richard Ellis in 1998 to serve as Sr. Project Manager/Tenant’s Representative for Bank of America’s 176,000 sf corporate offices and branch bank at Collier Center in Phoenix, Arizona
  • Co-founded award winning interior architecture firm McCarthy Nordburg in 1986, specializing in commercial office and hospitality design
